After reading the Download page issue, I thought that we could take the idea a bit further, giving an option to "associate" the same file to different nodes.

For example, I create a node and attach a file. Then I create another node and I want to refer an already uploaded file. What do you think?

Upload module has been removed from Drupal 7, and no features are being accepted into 6.x. Closing.
