"Add another" for unlimited values starts with 2 fields

For several field types (link field, location field, for example) the following happens: Setting the field to have unlimited values, the node edit/creation form initially shows 2 empty fields. I do not understand why that happens; it confuses the user because he tends to think that he has to provide 2 entries. The logic for an unlimited field should be that it starts with 1 field and if you want to add more then you click the "Add another" button. Funny enough, that does not happen for an imagefield, for example.
