I have had no problems installing drupal on GoDaddy's hosting.

It required no modification to the code, and worked out of the box... What were you guys having problems with?

I had to import the database.4.0.mysql, rather then the 4.1, but it worked perfectly for me...

GoDaddy Shared Server Problem

I installed last version of Drupal on a Economy plan in GoDaddy and the Search does not work because need Create Temporaly Table and this is the response of GoDaddy support

"Thank you for contacting Online Support.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to set the CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES privilege for your MySQL user account. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Sincerely,

I would be grateful of any help

Last time I used GoDaddy was

Last time I used GoDaddy was over a year ago, but I remember I had to make some modifications because they didn't allow GRANT LOCK TABLES.

Other problems included: only one MySQL db, limited subdomains/email/etc., and no shell access. Performance was also slightly below par.

GoDaddy now includes 25

GoDaddy now includes 25 MySQL dbs. I don't really have any way to benchmark my performance, but it seems to work fine. The hosting account interface isn't the greatest, but they seem like a reasonable host to me.

hmm...

I also tried them last year, and they indeed had some annoying restrictions with their sql server.
The guy at tech support told me they had to impose these restrictions due to security issues. Interesting.
Good to hear they changed this eerie policy. I may give them a try in the future, though I'm very happy with Dreamhost right now... :-)

I haven't had any problems

I haven't had any problems either, other than the search problem which can be patched to not use temporary tables (as noted on the above post).

Godaddy and Drupal 6.x

I wrote a tutorial on Setting up SSH / Drush on a Go-Daddy Shared Hosting Plan here http://www.johnzavocki.com/blog/setting-ssh-drush-go-daddy-shared-hostin...

I thought this might help anyone looking for help!

Also, they now what this "one click" install that works find ... however, i used it for a while and just decided to replace them with one multisite!

Mail on GoDaddy

I used GoDaddy for my first web hosting company and I am still quite unhappy with it. Everything seems to work fine, except for the contact module. Apparently the default contact module that comes with drupal 6.x core uses a port that is closed on the GoDaddy servers, and they are unwilling to open it. I'm pretty sure it's a standard mail port, but they want you to use their custom php form mailer script instead. That would be fine if I was making my own custom forms that send emails, but it doesn't work with drupal core. My website is currently unable to send emails for new accounts, or from the contact module.

I've tried using the SMTP module and using gmail's smtp server, but GoDaddy has those ports closed too. Their tech support was very unhelpful and kept sending me information on their custom form mailer scripts.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Is there a way to get drupal working correctly on a GoDaddy shared hosting account?

...also...

As a side note, my second drupal site is hosted on an ipage.com server and everything works great! iPage makes you pay extra for ssh access, but I haven't had to use ssh. They allow you to edit files (such as php.ini) directly from the cpanel.

So if you have a choice, I would definitely recommend iPage over GoDaddy.

you can change 4.0 mysql to

you can change 4.0 mysql to 4.1or 5 in the godaddy panle

I use Godaddy only for domain

I use Godaddy only for domain registration. My experience with their hosting has never been good, so I have switched to hostgator (for VPS hosting).

I agree

I also use Go Daddy for domain registration only and use HostGator for hosting. Its difficult to get Drupal websites working correctly on Go Daddy hosting.

Like GoDaddy Domain Registration

I agree as well. I use GoDaddy for domain registrations and it works out great. For hosting, I like Hostgator, Bluehost, or InMotion better. There's a lot of good options out there.
