Online forums are fine, but they usually have a feature allowing you to subscribe to a post, especially the topic you have just posted. I found nothing similar on Drupal. For example, how can I even get an email notice when an answer is posted to this topic I just created? Where can I select/unselect the topics for which I want to be warned of an answer ?

look at 'my accounts' then 'track' to track all of your own posts/replies on a drupal site.
to be able to subscribe to any posts/topics, install the subscription module.
