Specific keyword in search result

I searched for "belt" on my website and I got only nodes with keyword "belt" in the search result. I searched for "belts" the results that I got didn't include "belt" only "belts". I thought drupal's search wasn't keyword specific? I thought if I search for "belt" I will get "belts" too and vice versa.
