Description

If possible, please consider basing your module on the API provided by the Links Package module (http://drupal.org/node/24719).

Think of the possibilities, existing Links Package users can use your module. Also, users using your module can enable the added functionality offered by the Links Package.

Agreed. We would love to do this as soon as we get some time.

The Links Package has some functionality that will complement your vision. I'm currently attempting to reconcile which package to use. One that manages shared links as bookmarks (userlink) or one that manages my internal links inside my nodes (Links Package). In the long run both of these uses need to complement each other since from a users perspective a link may be both freetaged, shared with another user as a bookmark list and exist inside a specific node. The management of dead external links is very important as one starts to grow a large link architecture. There is also the need to work with the Spam.module as link spamming is a major challenge to larger Drupal sites.

Thanks for the package...

This seems like a match made in heaven! And exactly what I need to create a Del.icio.us style link directory.

Let me know if there's any way I can contribute.

Thanks
