Boston Meetup #3 - jQuery presentation at MIT Media Lab

moshe weitzman - August 19, 2006 - 02:31

The Boston users group is meeting for the third time. We are privileged this time with an outstanding speaker and a world class host location. John Resig will present an overview of his jQuery javascript library. This library is poised for inclusion in Drupal core. Jquery will help us all write cleaner, more powerful javascript which leads to more usable and even AJAXy web pages.

We will be hosted by Leo Burd at the MIT Media Lab. See the physical address map. Once you get into the building, go down the stairs and then cross the glass doors into the Cube or the LEGO Lab. The Media lab is on the cutting edge of computing, and is well worth a visit. Leo will be showing us around a bit.

The meeting begins at 6:00pm on Wednesday, August 23. John's presentation will begin around 6:30pm. If you are likely to attend, please signup. But also feel free to join us without signup, and feel free to invite friends.

Typographical correction

ChrisKennedy - August 19, 2006 - 03:11

Typographical correction: I believe it should be "jQuery" if we stick by the developers' formatting. Sorry for the nitpick.

fixed

You are right, fixed.

Obligatory comment on how to get there

by Hood blimp

Take the blimp to the tall building with all the glass windows (that would be the Hancock tower). Head north over the Charles River and have them put you down on top of the large, convex, concrete structure on the north shore of the river (that would be the Great Dome of MIT). Watch out for police cars on the roof.

Will anyone be able to film

Ian Ward - August 20, 2006 - 20:37

Will anyone be able to film the jQuery presentation? Or screencast it, I guess depending how it is being presented? Could be great to watch.

And please remember to ask the 2 pertinent questions

adrian - August 21, 2006 - 16:57

The question on everyone's mind's :

1) any idea on when 1.0 will be released (the answer will likely be 'when it is done', but hey)
2) the gpl license change.

These are the 2 blocking factors for having this awesome awesome library in 4.8. =)

Answers to your questions

> 1) any idea on when 1.0 will be released.

This Friday (August 25, 2006).

> 2) the gpl license change.

1.0 will be under a dual license, MIT and GPL, so this will completely resolve the "license issues".

OMG
