Just idly wondering what the distinctions between the Ubuntu configured for this project and what Drubuntu puts on Ubuntu, if there has been any thought on that, and if there could or should be more collaboration between the projects.
(I understand that this project includes VirtualBox configuration, but the majority beyond that in theory overlaps with Drubuntu.)

MichaelCole commentedHi Benjamin, I saw Drubuntu after posting the first version and pinged the project maintainer. I didn't hear back from Owen, but that doesn't mean anything in particular. I'm still open to collaboration.
I don't use Drubuntu, but I do setup a VBox vm for each of my projects. Quickstart comes out of that work.
Working together is better :-)
The differences are:
Quickstart is pre-packaged, Drubuntu is an install script.
Quickstart is a 1 G download, Drubuntu is 18k.
Quickstart works on any OS, Drubuntu works on Ubuntu 9.10 (Although could be a VM in any OS).
Quickstart uses bash shell scripting. Drubuntu uses PHP and Drush.
Quickstart doesnt need an uninstaller. Drubuntu includes an uninstaller (at least in the code)
Quickstart doesn't have alot of documentation. Drubuntu has alot of install documentation (including installing on virtual disks).
Quickstart offers Eclipse and Netbeans. Drubuntu offers Eclipse.
Other style differences. Drubuntu inspired me to add eclipse, and some other tools to Quickstart.
The biggest thing I notice is a difference is the amount of learning it takes to get started with *developing* drupal.
Quickstart requires more *downloading* time. Drubuntu requires more *reading, learning, and installing* time.
Both projects have merrit.

Thanks in advance.

niccolox commentedI bumped into Owen at Bay Area Drupal Camp (Bad Camp) this year and I was too drunk to remember what was discussed
but I do know he has a kid, and I know from my own, that leaves a lot less time for projects
so, I too support the Quickstart / Drubuntu Convergance project
