I am testing a 4.0Beta OpenBSD snapshot, and thought, I'd load up a drupal site I have for a home owners association to really put it throught the tests. I got past the usuall problems, like mysql open file problems with 5.0.22 on a BSD unice and getting php5 to compile and not using php5-hardened...

Then I wanted to try your PontoMail and maybe later setup dbmail so maybe we could have mysql based user/auth for sendmail.... and tweak dbmail to use user/auth mysql from drupal... and wow, that would be cool... ... but not yet...
I get ahead of myself. First I need to get pontomail working.... I turned the module on, I checked it for accesscontrol. I now see as id=1 and a user a new menu item called "Mail" and I see a new tab for user 'my-account' for EMAIL.

I have rewrite on, I am able to go to /pontomail and see the message that says to your left you should see current email accounts....Use the Compose...Use the Settings selection to setup
BUT I DON't see the COMPOSE or SETTINGs in the menu :(

I had used pontomail-4.7.0.tar.gz, so I downloaded the cvs,
pontomail-cvs.tar.gz version tonighte, 20august2006 and untarred over the folder,
but no change.

I went to the MENU settings and I see mail but no menus underneath MAIL, so nothing to make visible.

What shoud I do next?

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the module.
Did you enable pontomail_sendmail in your module settings?
Also, to setup your settings and email accounts, you need to go to your "My Account" page, under /user.
I should add this to that page becaues I have changed where some of gthe menu items are. I'll try and get to that tommorrow.

But yeah, lemme know if you still don't see it after enabling ponotomail_sendmail. Can you at least setup an account with the module?

For testing I had turned on the module "pontomail",
but not yet the module pontomail_sendmail.
My apology, should have turned that on also instead
of assuming. - doing so but still no settings....

I turned on module "pontomail_sendmail" and the "Compose"
feature, as expected shows up under menu MAIL
for user ID=1, but not for other IDs untill admin
changes accesscontrol - as should be. However the
compose link just goes to the head of the node
showing different ways to compose, ie forum, page etc...

I still do not see a way to add email accounts.
neither under menu MAIL, nor the tab on my-accounts.

FOR anonnymous I do have both modules turned off in
the access_control So I turned on access-control for
all users for all features of both modues including annoymous.
Still not able to find a way to make WebMail Settings

So in conclusion I am unable to get to screen
to allow email "settings" to be entered.

I probably will need to create a virgin drupal install
and try turning on Pontomail for the virgin install,
to create a baseline. I'll try to do that tonight.

Yes,

I rolled a lot of fixes/patches last night to the CVS build only. Drupal compiles the cvs downloads here at the site only once to twice a day...but if you can get a fresh build directly off the CVS tree and try that, please let me know. I'm activley working on this module, so my replies will be prompt.

AFter getting a purer source something helped.

I checkout the CVS, and now under my-accounts I see:
User Webmail Settings
Add Server

Before the 'add server' did not show. Now I can actually test.

Ultimately I'd like to setup some drupal sites that private for
associations/orgs and force the drupal sign on to filter so that
it can be used as the username for email (no mixed case and no spaces).
Then the email address would be drupaluser@thedomain.com.
Then have an email solution that uses the drupal username and
password for authentication instead of drupal usiong the email
user/password.... and I'd prefer pontoemail
server be set automatically for all accounts to be localhost or fixed,
but I am ahead of myself again.

For other readers, HERE is a way to anonymouss checkout the CVS:

cd to appropriate folder, I used a tempoary folder not in drupal then copied files over.

cvs -z6 -d:pserver:anonymous:anonymous@cvs.drupal.org:/cvs/drupal checkout -d my_drupal contributions/modules/pontomail

then the CVS was under ./my_drupal/

p.s.

I am having dificulty editing or deleting email accounts with this CVS version,
however we can close this thread and start those issues anew if next CVS update
does not resolve.

I encountered a similar problem by installing 4.7 instead of CVS. Some other probs, but I'm closing this thread as suggested by webengr and I'll follow up on other tickets.

Please help.
I got the pontomail and put the folder in the modules directory of my drupal site and I can not see it under modules in my drupal site so i can enable it and install it. Please help, I think i've tried almost everything. I am running on a Linux server and I do have PHP5.

Thank you so much.
