Can you generate multiple Ajax Slideshow blocks? Lets say that I want the block in one region in the front page and in other region in the rest of the site. Can this be done?

See issue #671854: Block display.

The v2.x support is for single block but you may create additional manual blocks by using the method described on that issue. Please note though that having 2 ajax_slideshow blocks on the *same* page, is not supported currently.
