It seems that aliases cannot be created for transformed node types. In the attached screenshot, groups have been converted into categories but the alias isn't generated. I haven't checked the other node types.

Closing this as duplicate, in favor of #249104: category_transform and category_pathauto not compatible. which is more recent (5.x) and has more discussion too.
