Issue Summary

Hi Aaron,

I wonder if we can combine the functionality of this module with userlists.module. The names are so similar that I'm sure people will get confused between them. Also, the userlists.module was written as a way of showing various user lists to administrators, but only really ended up being a listing of users by role. This concept spurred some development of user filters that will be in 4.8 core, but I still like the simplicity of userlists. However... I could easily see it getting adsorbed into something like your module.

Just a thought. I'd rather keep things less confusing for the people. :-)

+1 for this

Being able to filter by role is a key feature asked by many on all the (unfortunately scattered in pieces) different user modules.

crap, sorry about that jjeff. don't know how i missed that when i named things, and then got swamped with big deadlines for a couple of months & missed your comment. i think user_views would have been a better name for this module anyway, but seems like there are a lot of people using it now, so i think we're stuck (unless you see a way out).

meanwhile, user roles are coming up next (i just need to review & apply a recent patch for that). also, i'd like to build this into something more intelligent, creating access for different user views, etc. but that might be further down the road. and maybe obsolete, if 5.0 takes care of some of this.

ok, i added the patch for user lists by roles. i'll make a note on the project page that the userlists module supplies a lighter version of role listing for admins.
