Usability comments on Views 3 alpha2

This post was originally a comment on a different thread but I was asked publish it separately. This comment, with instructions to clear the theme registry, may negate some of my findings. Truth is, I've moved on but am clearing this up out of respect for the module maintainers.

I just tested out Views 6.x-3.0-alpha2 and it worked wonderfully. See test_views_alpha_settings.png for my settings.

I'm not a usability expert but I am a newbie so here are a few notes from the novice perspective:

- To turn on "Use grouping" there is currently a check box next to the words "Group by", perhaps this could read "Turn on grouping" instead

- In order to set up a Filters group you need to click on the "Rearrange" arrows. This isn't really intuitive. Could a new symbol for grouping be added or could the on-hover text be expanded to "Rearrange and Group"?

- After you add a new group (called Group 1) you are presented with a series of Group Operators (See viewsAlpha_rearrangeFilters.png.) This part is a bit confusing. On the attached png the final group operator controls the settings for within Group 1. Could the text be changed from "Group operator" to "Group 1 Operator". Of course, if I added a second Group its operator would read "Group 2 Operator".

- I also noticed that changing the middle "Group operator" didn't affect anything? Is this extraneous or did I miss something?
