Enable the profile module (it comes with Drupal) and then go to admin > settings > profiles. Create a new field (e.g. interests) and select the "Visibility: Public field, content shown on profile page and on member list pages" option at the bottom. You can also change the name of the page created under the page title field.

and how would i create a page where all people's interests are listed on one page? is there a snippet for that?
