I would like to use Synonyms (core) on a new site.

But I would like to insure there is path to D7, as I see some changes are underway.

There are several Synonyms contrib modules, what are the current thoughts/direction, for use in D6 on way to D7?

In other words how can I best set-up and use Synonyms in D6 to be ready for best possible use in D7?

one of the add on modules or............?
