I can't seem to change the input format for the site wide contact form... I'm trying to style the text I have on the settings page of the module - but there is no option for the input format. It defaults to using the filtered HTML so I pretty much can't do anything!

Have you tried setting the desired input format as default from yourdomain/admin/settings/filters/list?

Yes - it's set to Full HTML

Same problem here. My Input Format default is set to FULL HTML but the Contact Form message is set to Filtered HTML and there appears to be no way to change it...

You're probably better off just not using the contact form at all. I've been using webforms for contact forms for a while. Much better solution.

It seems it's hard coded for security reasons. See here http://drupal.org/node/88602

Best is to use a block or webforms.
