I am using the upright-40c theme. If I change the main image format in my view to "image linked to node" instead of just plain image..then the pager image will be placed underneath its respective pager area in a new row. This leaves me with two rows in the pager area instead of one. Is there any way to fix this? I would be happy to share a link to my test area where this is happening.

When you want to use an "image linked to node" in the pager you will need to adjust the CSS of the theme.

Please add a link to the slideshow on your Drupal site.

Note: I normally don't give support for CSS changes of the themes.
I could have a full time (non paid) job on it, when I would start answering all CSS issues users have with customizing the ddblock themes.

I think I did a poor job of explaining my problem...I did not want the pager image to link to the node..but rather the main image. After having a few..I realized you can just map the pager image to its normal field and map the main image to a different image field set up for "image linked to node". Sorry about the false report.. I must have missed that in the docs.

Title: Pager Row Problems With Image links » How to use different image formats for pager and slide image? (Fixed)
Category: bug » support

ok, no problem. Yes, for using different image formats (with and without link) or eg. using different imagecache presets the same image field can be used twice in the view to make this functionality possible.

Some users want to use mouseover for the pager-items to select different slides and click on the pager-items to go to the node or another page (The option I thought you want to use, reading your post). In that case the CSS has to be changed for the pager-item.
