Am I'm missing something in the set up?

michelleOk, this has nothing to do with Views, you're not answering your own question, and it's not a bug, so please leave all the fields where I put them other than setting to fixed if it fixes your problem.
The setting to make AF count all new posts and not just new topics, which I'm assuming is the issue here, is "Get the number of new comments per forum on the forum list".

brett_wilson commentedAgain apologies. These issue is that if i post in a forum, the AF doesn't display new posts icon against given forum. Attached are screen shots that should make it clearer.

michelleThe screenshots don't make it any clearer since you took a screenshot of a forum with no new posts. Since this is a couple months old, I'm closing. If you still need help, re-open, though I'm not sure what more I can do here.

web-repairs commentedI think I understand what brett_wilson was having trouble with or trying to say. . Possibly after posting a new topic try logging in as a different user in order to see the folder icon changed to forum-folder-new-posts.png.
