Notification e-mails of new registrations are sent to site admin (UID 1).
In thread http://drupal.org/node/709486 tamerzg says if someone wants a configurable e-mail, open a feature request. I would really like that!
If site has multiple admins, or is technically managed by an external organization, UID 1 could not be the right person to notify. This is what happens in our case. Let users decide.
Proposal: replace automatic UID 1 with configuration field "Please enter the address that is notified of new registrations".
More advanced: allow to specify 2+ addresses in the field, separated with commas.

If developers can add this, we are available to test.
