Perhaps I'm missing something in the documentation, but I don't see how to use this? I'd love for users to be able to open files from filedepot, then when they are saved, automatically upload changes to filedepot. If this was exposed as a mounted drive, that would be fine. The download > change > upload workflow is really cumbersome for some of our clients interested in this module.

Great module, looking forward to the future!

If you use the 'Download for editing' action for the file - it will have a unique tag in the filename for tracking. The user then saves their edited file to the local folder their filedepot desktop client is monitoring. Now as the file is saved, it will be transparently updated to the remote repository.

That's pretty seamless and easy for users - is it not?

Dear Blainelang,

I am also interested in this feature, but I don't know how to make it work.

Could you provide us with an guided example ? I really don't know what is a "MS Intregrated Desktop Client", I have searched on Google and I only find "Remote Desktop Client", I am totally lost as I am not a windows week.

Besides, where do you configure the monitoring of the local directory ? I am looking at the settings of the module and I don't find anything related to "folder monitoring"...

Sorry if I am asking stupid questions, but I think this points needs more elaboration :)

@unknownguy: The windows desktop client is not part of the open source package. You can read the informations about the client (which is available as an evaluation copy to test for 30 days) under http://www.nextide.ca/solutions/filedepotclient.

@blainelang: I think, this information should also be added to the modules page, because reading "Integrated MS Windows desktop client available" makes one think, that this is also available under an open source licence. Besides that: This is a great module and your work is really really appreciated! I consider trying to code a mac client on my own.

Cheers.

@freddyseubert: Thanks for the feedback. There is nothing in-correct about the wording used, it's as you noted 'users may assume' but quickly understand once they visit our site. D.O does not want anyone to really be doing any selling on the site, specially not on the module page. If we offer more explanation on the module page, then we will be asked to add more details like price etc. We can do that better on our own site. We are only charging $25.00/licsense which is very in-expensive and if anyone wants a large number they can certainly contact us for volume pricing.
