I've never posted on a project like this, so I am not sure if this is the right place.

Seemingly out of the blue, our FedEx rate quote stopped working. Here is the error:

* Error in processing FedEx Shipping Quote transaction.
* FAILURE
* crs
* 264
* Error connecting to CAAS for validateAccountMeter().

Could someone tell me if this is an issue with Drupal/Ubercart or is this on the FedEx side?

Thanks,
Mike

That's an internal error on the FedEx side. Is this with the production or testing server? I called FedEx and they said they were deploying new code on the testing server yesterday and that is one of the errors that had been reported, but it should be fixed today. The testing server is subject to changes and outages and an occasional bug.

It would be highly unusual for the production server to be down more than a short time or have an error, and in fact I'm not seeing that error with the production server right now. If the error is occurring on the production server then FedEx would like to know about it so they can track it down - call 1.877.339.2774 (when prompted, say "Web Services"), tell them the error message, and they will have you make a quote so they can watch it fail in real time. They will need to know your account number/meter number so they can track the activity.

On a side note, I see you're using the 5.x version ... When Drupal 7 is released in 3 months or so, Drupal 5 will be officially unsupported. The same is going to happen with Ubercart - D7 Ubercart will be released at the same time as D7 and support will be dropped for D5 Ubercart. I suggest you start planning to move your site away from Drupal 5 as soon as possible.

Hey TR,

I called our FedEx representative who informed me that it was an issue on their end (as you've stated) and it took 2 days for it to start working again. So what I did for the time being was just enable UPS quotes (even through the customer will be getting packages delivered via FedEx) and then once I found out the FedEx is working again, I reverted the site.

Regarding our Drupal, I recently finished updating our theme using 6.x Zen and I've got a test site that is up and running on my local XAMPP. This weekend I hope to make the switch to 6.x. I realize I am far behind in migrating to 6.x, but I'd like to ask your opinion if you think I should just wait to upgrade from 5.x straight to 7.x or would it be more advisable to upgrade to 6.x first and then upgrade to 7.x ?

Thanks
Mike

Definitely migrate to 6.x first. There will be an upgrade path to 7.x from 6.x, but not directly from 5.x.

Sounds great. I've wanted to migrate to 6.x for about half a year now but other things keep coming up that take away my attention.

When 6.x came out initially I was going to switch right away but there were a lot of unsupported modules that our site depended on so I put it off. It is great to see that many modules will be ready for 7.x right away :)

Thanks for all your help as always,
Mike
