The page is at http://drupal.org/node/823522 and is very minimal. Let me know if it would help to have more information about Drupal.org's move to Git.

christefano commentedSomehow I completely forgot to add this to the front page queue at http://drupal.org/front-page-schedule
It's in the queue now.

Amazon commentedHi, I think it does need more explanation that Drupal.org is moving from CVS to Git for Drupal 8, and the switch will apply to Drupal 7 contributed modules after Drupal 7 ships.
Mention that we need to train thousands of developers.
I've also put in a request so that we can use Webex to support Linux users. Doing this without Linux support doesn't make a lot of sense since the majority of developers will be running Linux.
This qualifies as a front page post.

gdemetAgreed with Kieran's feedback; some context for this event would be helpful, but if provided, I also think it's worthy of front page promotion.
