Request for Core bridge backport

On the modules page it is explained, that for 6.x branch of Drupal the module can be used only by modules that utilise it directly. It is too unfortunate for all the 6.x websites for not being able to use possibilities of this excellent module. Nevertheless, 7.x-1.x-dev has Core bridge module, which enables Drupal core files to be served by Storage module. Would be awesome if that module could be back-ported to 6.x.
