The post in Drupal Planet titled CMS Quick Start: Backing up your Drupal site with the Demo Module simply redirects to a site advertising their commercial drupal offerings.

The redirect seems like an abuse of the Planet feed, although it may have been unintentional or a mistake.

The page I see is at http://www.cmsquickstart.com/blog/backing-your-drupal-site, and I don't see any advertisements.

I guess they either caught the mistake and corrected it or removed the redirect. I checked at least 3 or 4 times and each time, clicking on the cmsquickstart link redirected automatically to www.neerjasoftwares.com homepage.

For good measure, I visited Google Reader and clicked on the link again.

It redirected to the above commercial site.

I tried with 3 different browsers, and none of them has ben redirected to a different page.

I don't know what it is.

I connected from a different PC and laptop and got the same results, with the page redirecting automatically. Then, because we are using OpenDNS on our default Internet connection, I switched to a different connection (that doesn't use OpenDNS as the resolving DNS server) using wireless broadband. I got the same result there too, with the page being automatically redirected to www.neerjasoftwares.com

I doubt if two different ISPs could have their DNS cache wrong.

Looking at the footer of that site, I see a link back to cmsquickstart. Not sure if that means anything in this context, though.

Shall keep investigating.

I happened to talk with the owner of cmsquickstart.com on another forum and found the answer to this riddle. Apparently they had suffered poor conversions from India (and credit card scammers also), so they set things up so that visitors from India would be redirected to the web site of their Indian office!!!

Bad experience for Indian visitors like me, but at least the riddle is solved.

Hi Venkat-rk,

For visitors from India, our entire site has redirected to our India site since prior to our inclusion in the planet as dealing locally with our India clients is a better experience and also a large percentage of visitors were spammers and fraudulent users. However, we didn't realize until today when you contacted us that our planet feed is also redirecting. Thanks for notifying us of the issue. I have asked a programmer to make the update and ensure that our Drupal planet posts display for all countries.
