I ran into a lengthy thread on the state of link directories for drupal and was surprised to see how many options are currently available. It took me awhile to look all of them up, so I thought I would post quick links to all of them (with a brief description from the module page) and invite anyone to add any that I missed:

Janode
"This is a node type that allows you to create a library of http:// links to other resources on the Internet."

LinksDB
"Small module to allow you to maintain a simple categorised database of external site links."

Links Package
"The Links Package is a multi-module set for managing URL links in a master directory, and attaching them in various ways to your content pages"

userlink
"The userlink module allows users to save and share links (bookmarks, URLs)"

I haven't had time to try any of them out, but would love to hear from others who have reviewed the field and note any advantages/disadvantages of each and what plans module authors have going forward-

I'm using a combination of Links Package, Views, and the Category module in 4.7

I see a new user contrib module was just added to CVS. Web Links.

I am currently using a system of Article + Flexinode that I hacked together myself under 4.6 and am considering moving to 4.7. It looks like things have come along!
