Good morning,
I see that in some sites, some users tend to tumble and fall when searching for some words and the search returns 0 results when you, by reviewing the logs, see that it 'could' have given results if only the user wouldn't have made some stupid (and persistent) mistakes (typos, bad spelling, etc...).
An example: They tend to write Poscript (wrong) instead of PostScript (right) or "QuarQXpress" (wrong) instead of "Quark XPress" (right) and so on... As these kind of mistakes tend to happen more with individual names (trademarks and the like) or a given set of words for given sites (medical terms mistakes in medical sites, journalism wrong spelling in journalism sites, etc...)....
Wouldn't it be nice/good to add the ability (via a module?) of having a table of search synonyms?
I mean, somewhere in the admin area where the authorized users could define synonyms for searches, so that if a user says: "SEARCH: Poscript paper sizes", he would get the "PostScript paper sizes" results because someone had added previously in the table: Poscript -> PostScript (or something similar?)
Please, bear with me if you find the idea absurd or could lead to a waste of resources (No, I can't write really the module or the myself code because I am really code-challenged. I am but a graphic desginer ;) ).
Thanks if anybody finds this interesting enough... and thanks as well if not :)
Gustavo.
