I think, if you want this in Drupal 7, than you have to write your name and description values into the profile .info file, instead of creating this function.

Can we possibly move the example profile into the Examples for Developers area and make it actually updated? It is an orphan...

Otherwise, perhaps move this to the api.drupal.org webmasters queue and get rid of this example, since it's horribly wrong for D7.

Duplicate of #715176: Adopt example.profile. I agree that we should adopt.

For the immediate term we should probably remove the existing profile.

Let's get drumm to remove it.
