Release notes
As well as updates to many modules and Drupal core, this release includes the following fixes:
- #1854956: Address out of memory errors when many features are enabled at the same time.
- #1852898: Filter update messages to show updates for security issues, customized modules/themes, or the distro itself.

Release notes
As well as updating to the latest release sof Drupal core and various contributed modules, this release of Open Outreach includes changes focused on making the design responsive as well as various fixes and tweaks to the Debut Highlighted, Debut Media, and Debut RedHen features.
- Inclusion of new base theme (Adaptivetheme) and new subthemes. Outreach is the new default theme and Sky is also included. See #1561806: Introduce new base theme and subthemes for Open Outreach.
- Added Superfish module. See #1816072: Add Superfish for AdaptiveTheme subthemes (Sky and Outreach).
- Lots of changes to Debut features to make them work better with responsive themes. See the release notes for Debut Media and Debut Highlighted.
- Also fixes to Debut RedHen around permissions and filtering.

Coming fast on the heels of RC3, RC4 includes release updates to new releases of several modules to address bugs in the RC3 release. If you're upgrading directly from RC2, be sure to read the RC3 release notes.
Important: RC3 introduces a new dependency, the Apps compatible module. Before updating, make sure you have logged in with a site administrator account (a user with the user permission administer software updates or the account you created during installation). Immediately after updating, you will need to run the update script as an admin user at http://example.org/update.php (replace example.com with your domain name). See documentation on updating from one minor version to another.
Fixes in RC4 include:
- #1730168: Tags vocabulary and roles not created on install.
- #1730700: Create administrator role at install only if not already present.
- #1730676: Add patch to fix fatal error from apps.

Nedjo has also tackled some major re-factoring of how roles are generated in all of the Debut features. To do so, he has created a new helper module--Apps compatible--and deprecated Debut.

The biggest change in this second release candidate is a switch to installing Debut features as Apps, see #1459162: Provide features via Apps.
As part of the switch to apps, we've removed use of the Subprofiles module. If upgrading from a previous version of Open Outreach, you can safely disable and remove Subprofiles. We've also pulled some code into a new feature, Open Outreach core.
As always, be sure to run update.php after updating. Doing so will enable the Apps module and Open Outreach core.
This release is also compatible with the Pantheon platform, where we're working on adding Open Outreach as a distro install option.

Important upgrade notice: Before upgrading from a previous version of Open Outreach, special steps are needed. Because the 'media' type field was deprecated in #1201936: Move the media field to a non-required submodule, we changed the type of media fields to 'file', see #1315326: Upgrade to Media 2.x and File entity 2.x and #1316514: Provide media field for other features. There is no upgrade available to support this change, so prior to upgrading it would be necessary to delete all instances of field_media.
