Hello,

I want to do a site for a learning company which is already using moodle to handle their courses and I'd like to know sample sites using drupal and moodle integration and if there are sites which can achieve the same moodle does but with only drupal.

Thank you

Have you tried a Google search "site:drupal.org moodle integration"?

Anyway I can tell you now that Drupal cannot do what Moodle does. I've used both and although I loathe Moodle (it is horrible) there is no question that (at present) for e-learning applications it is far superior. And there really isn't any sensible way of integrating them, they're very different.

The Gradebook module and Quiz module do not even come close to providing equivalent functionality.

Yes, I tried but I got to technical pages, whereas I want to see examples.

There's an integration module (although I'm afraid it's abandoned) and I found some wiki page at moodle's website about how integrating it (although I didn't manage to find out how does it work).

If you want to know how it works then you have to get technical.

There's a reason why the Moodle/Drupal integration module was abandoned: There's no point.

Sorry for making this such a downer but as I said if you need to do serious elearning then Moodle is the one to use. That's it.

I dislike saying it because I really don't like Moodle (from a developer viewpoint) and I really do like Drupal. But for real world elearning Drupal cannot cut it.

I have to disagree with you: the point in integrating drupal and moodle is the following: I'd like to use moodle for on-line courses and drupal for the rest of the site (company's description, list of available courses sorted by topics/interests -according to user's profile- calendar of courses...). The way I'd like to have them integrated is to benefit from drupal's flexibility in layouts, sections, profiles... and benefit from moodle's managing courses. Pretty simple: I want to benefit from each software's strong points. If there's any other way different from the moodle integration, I'd like to know.

Thanks

Your persistence does you credit.

But I have no other help (assuming you could call this help) to offer.

Ok, thank you anyway, really.

If moodle supports openid, you could use that for a single sign on at least. Other than that, there really doesn't appear to be much interest in any more advanced integration.

I'm in a similar situation, evaluating integrating moodle and drupal.

Did you make any progress?

So far I have found these projects:

http://drupal.org/project/moodle and Joomla + Moodle, http://www.joomdle.com/

Would be interested to know if anyone as implemented either.

Also, currently evaluating...
I am of the same opinion as c-c-m -- each has its strengths and, properly tied together could be very powerful and flexible.

Some more reasons to add to the pile of "why it's not pointless to integrate Drupal and Moodle"
- Use Drupal multisite or virtual site for front-end "portals" (i.e. skinning/branding) while maintaining course data and delivery uniformity
- Creating an overall training transcript/dashboard or any report that can use Views
- Better Course Catalog searching/content management in Drupal
- Use pre-existing group management modules (OpenAtrium, OG, Commons)
- Emailing and marketing capabilities/SEO
- Accessibility standards
- Frankly, a less kludgy interface...

I don't know a lot about Moodle customization and modularization at this point, but these are my opinions having scrolled through Moodle modules lists and done fair amount of research on the web.
