The units dropdown should include "Whole" (ie. '1 whole lemon') and "No Units" (ie. '3 eggs'). Possibly also "Half" and "Quarter", but I suppose those cases could also be handled by specifying 1/2 Whole and 1/4 Whole.

Any other ideas or cobsiderations?

I would also recommend "Standard" to Metric conversion. This should be easy enough, and adding a little tab "convert to metric" or vice versa (allow site to select the default view) would be great. We have some visitors from Europe who prefer metric.

If this was added, maybe even a little calculator users can access themselves would be GREAT!

Hopefully we will see a 4.7 release soon as I have ~150 recipes in a Flexinode right now :D

Ps- One of the nice things about the Flexinode module I made was that at the top of the recipe is a picture, e.g. this Coffee Cake recipe. It would be nice to have something like this in the 4.7 version (I have not used the 4.6 release, which when I tried it it was buggy).

As a European myself, I think the conversions would be a good idea, but less confusing if it was either 'Imperial' or 'American' to 'Metric', as what is considered 'Standard' varies, depending on where you are.

Pictures must be the most commonly requested feature at the moment. This can be achieved using the 'image' and 'img_assist' modules, though I think drawk was looking into adding it to the recipe module specifically, as it could be a bit more userfriendly.

I chuckled a bit at "standard". Living in Canada, metric is standard here, too. :)

Marble and I discussed the imperial to metric conversions a bit in the past, and I think that it is a good idea. But Marble did point out that there may be problems with temperatures entered in the text -- it will take some text parsing and programmatic guessing to identify temperatures.

As far as pictures, I actually have a modified version somewhere on my server that has preliminary picture support. It doesn't incorporate a user upload mechanism though, but there is no reason that can't be added. I just got tired of playing around with all the various options. You drop your picture into files/images and rename it with the node id of your recipe and it gets pulled onto the recipe view display. It has fallen a bit out of step with current CVS, but that's an easy fix.

Heh, yeah, maybe standard isn't the best word ;)

As for the pictures, I am using Flexinode and selected the "picture" field when creating the new node type. From there when you create a page you browse to the picture, and when you submit the new page it uploads it.

I much prefer this compared the current image modules in Drupal. They are clunky in some ways and kind of obscure the point of a simple, "I want picture X with this node of real content". I wish Drupal had a simple folder/file based upload module like and FTP client. Anyhow, pictures would be a big win :D

I will continue checking in on the Recipe module. I am doing a fresh design for the site for my wife and including a nice dashboard with flash and views of the various content for easier navigation and content browsing. I like forward to adding the Recipe module to the list of changes :D

I have to chuckle at this. Americans, by and large, don't even know what we call our system of measurements. In the common language, it is usually called the "English" system, which is funny because the English use different measures and are converting to metric. My degree was in Physics, and in school we called it the "Foot-Pound-Second" (FPS) system. This is probably a better term. I personally would prefer that we convert to metric. (How many teaspoons in a gallon? Will a cord of wood fit in my truck? How long is a ton?)

BTW, ounce is also a volume measure, not just "mass" (actually, ounce is a weight, gram is a mass).
