Etsy.com stores charges users

Has anyone looked into setting up the stores module so that a site can charge registered users a fee and percentage of sales? http://www.etsy.com implements a .10 cent fee for a single item listing which can be on the site for up to six months. Then, if the item is sold, a 4.5% charge for the item sale price is added to the user account when the item is sold. Each user has to enter a credit card number for charges from etsy. Etsy has nothing to do with the actual sale of the item.

The thing that is interesting is that there is an actual vibrant user community of craftspeople sharing information in forums. Seems that etsy is providing an ecommerce service that the crafts community is embracing.

After looking through the current modules, it doesn't seem that there is any way to set up a system to charge users per page listings and/or charging a commission on the sale of an item. I'm not a programmer, so there is no way that I can make this feature happen. But if anyone is interested in creating this feature, I will be happy to help any way that I can.
