Hello,

i try to get Search by Page running, but something flounders on something!

i set up search environment, select all nodetypes, all cck filefields, set up the search files module, reset search index, run cron for much times!

But no Files found! With the search file module i get results, but only on the core upload modul files, so i think my search helpers work correctly

Any ideas?

Permissions? With Search by Page Attachments, you can define which role is used to index your attachments. Make sure that role has permission to see the files attached with those fields.

You might also check the "recent log messages" report, and see if there are any errors there that tell you what went wrong.

all permission checked! all user have access to the files i uploades!
but in the recent log ther is:

Content was skipped - PID (11), path (../testpdf.pdf)
Content was skipped - PID (12), path (../testtext.txt)
user: sbp indexing Authentifizierter Benutzer XN5xTSPKgq (what is this user for ?)

If you set up indexing by role for anything in Search by Page, it will create these dummy users. They should have "blocked" status.

The "Content was skipped" messages... The paths there are very odd. Normally it should have a path within sites/default/files, sites/all/files, sites/something.com/files, etc. Are you doing something strange with your CCK FileField?

One other suggestion is to visit the Search settings page and click "reindex", and then run cron until it reports that all of your content is 100% indexed.

excuse me, off course the meessage in the report is

Content was skipped - PID (18), path (files/local-page/texdatei/karte.txt)

i cut it bevor i posted it! but i think the path is correct!

And i reindex the sites, then run cron until 100%! And for each cronjob i get the Content was skipped error!

i try also different user, but all the time this skip messages! see attached image

The Content was Skipped message is generated when Search by Page Attachments determines that it cannot index the file.

SBP Attachments can have problems if:
- The role you have chosen does not have permission to view the field, the node it's attached to, or the file.
- There is no "helper" function set up for the file extension of the file
- The file is not within your system Files directory. (Normally in Drupal 6, the system files diretory should be sites/default/files, not files, so the file path should be sites/default/files/subdirectory/myfile.txt, not files/subdirectory/myfile.txt -- check the settings on your Files admin page under Site Configuration).
- The file does not exist
- When the helper function is run on the file, it doesn't return any text

One of those has to be the reason...

Version: 6.x-1.11 » 6.x-1.12
Component: Main Search by Page module » Search by Page Attachments module

I've had the same problem for months. Most of files that generate the error are *.zip. Naturally I have no helper for zipped files - even though in theory they could be automatically unzipped and then indexed. Some of the files are .jpg (which also have no helper configured).

In any case, the watchdog logs are constantly full of "Content was skipped", and my search index is never at 100%. I run cron every 5 minutes, even though it's just a small site with few users.

Im using the latest version (1.12). Also, the component is obviously "Search by Page Attachments". Maybe there is some logic missing or broken, for skipping filetypes with no helpers?

The issue in #9 sounds like a different issue from the one that was originally reported.

The problem in #9 is that you have no helper files for .zip or .jpg. There is no "automatic" unzipping. You would need a helper application to be set up. Please file an issue on the Search Files project about that.

Regarding the search index at 100% problem, I'll take a look at this, but I'm going to file a separate issue because it is not the same as the issue that was originally reported here.
#952076: Search index never gets to 100% if there are no helpers for attachments OR if some nodes have no visible fields

Please add further comments about the indexing not getting to 100% on that other issue, thanks!

Thanks jhodgdon. I'll continue in the other thread. Oh, and it's true: my case is probaply totally unrelated. My file search actually works, but the searchindex process has problems (some kind of loop maybe).

FuXXz, do you happen to use "content_permissions"-module? As the title says, it's used for cck field permissions that you can (and need) to set up for each role. Installing it without configuring means all your CCK-fields will stay hidden (and uneditable) by anyone except your superuser. The users created by search_by_page naturally are not the same as the superuser, so they might not have the proper permissions.

I happen to be using content_permissions and I know it works if it's set up corrently (both in "admin/user/permissions" and "admin/settings/search_by_page/edit/1". It would explain why it works for upload but not filefield.

FuXXz: any news? I am going to assume at this point, since it has been so long, that this support issue can be marked "fixed". You might also try the latest development version of Search by Page, as it has some new functionality in regards to indexing attachments. Please set this issue back to "active" if you are still having trouble.
