Hi there,
This project looks great. I have played with it a bit on a localhost install, and I'm wondering what it would take to either

a. Turn a storm invoice into an ubercart order.
b. Skip the storm invoice and add the billable time as products to an ubercart order.

This seems like a logical next step. It's great to be able to create and send out invoices, but it would be even better to offer customers a way to pay online and even take POS payments with Uberpos. I may be interested in doing this if it hasn't been done, but I could use some guidance on where to start. Any suggestions?

Hi rbayliss,

I haven't done much with Ubercart - so my knowledge is limited to the Storm side of things.

There isn't any Ubercart specific support in Storm, and as far as I'm aware it hasn't been linked before.

Now that i've got the negatives out of the way though, I would have thought it would be fairly easy to link up. Could you post some more details about the type of products / services you'd be putting through? Storm is generally used as a back office tool - invoice items are generated when a project / ticket / time is put into the system, which would generally be by someone in house. If you're looking simply for the client to be able to pay these invoices online, I would think about adding to Storm Invoice module. If you are looking to sell products but then have an invoice generated and hence track sales, I'd try to do this after checkout.

I work at a Drupal development shop and we use Ubercart to do all of our invoicing. Then we either send out the invoice and take payment online or run payment through our POS system (http://drupal.org/project/uberpos). Unfortunately, invoices are all created manually and it would be great if we could bring some level of automation between the tasks we work on and the invoices. I think this is where Storm would come in. I'll check out the invoice module and see how difficult it would be to turn an invoice into an Ubercart order. Thanks for the reply.

I had thought about this briefly a few months back but never looked into it. I ran into problems like this: http://www.ubercart.org/forum/support/7369/use_create_order_invoice_cust...

One solution that I thought would work, although not pretty, was to add a button to a storm invoice that would say "PAY NOW" and would create a CUSTOM PRODUCT in ubercart with the price passed on from the storm invoice. The customer would then be in the UC environment with a product of the amount of the invoice.

Not pretty though.

Re #2: For automatic invoices, see #567558: Extend auto-billing to other types of Storm node.

Re #3: Sounds like this needs some quite specific Ubercart knowledge, so a bit above my head i'm afraid.

I wonder if the invoice module integrates at all?

Re #3 (and ignore my php handicap)

see http://www.ubercart.org/forum/support/8360/create_manual_order_full_paym...

as i understand it, ubercart's handling of products to create invoices and storm's time tracking have a lot of distance between the two, but i'm sure some work-around is possible....

to merge these worlds... wow, that'd be nice

I may attempt this sometime over the weekend using UC Node Checkout and this tutorial:
http://drupaleasy.com/blogs/ultimike/2009/03/event-registration-ubercart

If I have any success at all I'll add it as an entry in that documentation project that I haven't really started but will get to as soon as I'm finally finished this project...

I'm working on a module integrating Simple Payments with Storm -- see: http://groups.drupal.org/node/146174

Writing a module specifically to link Storm with UC is being discussed at the above link; please comment in that thread if you have any desire to see integration between UC and Storm.

I'm just reviewing the issues queue. This issue isn't likely to get attention from me (and probably other maintainers), so I am marking "Won't Fix".

I am however, open to committing code to help the integration if contributed from the community.

In the mean time you guys can use the following module we (DA Designers) made for Drupal 6. It only supports authorize.net at the moment, and NODE IDs are used as invoice numbers as we found them to be more convinient than the storm invoice number with slashes.

Users can access using /payment ... use cache exclude module to make sure pdf works even when logged out, or else non logged in users will see jibberish when accessing pdf invoice.

Moving this to the Project Management module queue for tracking (although postponed as it will not be an immediate priority, if implemented).
