Hi,
i'm offering to sponsor this module update for $600 (trough paypal).
Work required:
1) Update this module to use latest facebook php library
2) Prevent this module from interfering with facebook social plugins (http://developers.facebook.com/plugins) when they are called trough XFBML (http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/javascript/).
3) Remove need to enter email when registering (even when in non express registration).
4) Make sure there are no outstanding bugs.
This is a SERIOUS offer.
I can also sponsor 2) for $250 as a stand alone.

nevets commentedA little feedback
1) The changes to the Facebook API make this non-trivial. The last time I checked, the new API did not even expose all the features the module currently uses.
2) Since the module also uses XFMBL this is probably a bigger challenge tha
n you think.
3) I though Facebook required an email address for registration.

BenK commentedbrakkar,
Thanks for trying to get some momentum behind updating the module. Really appreciate it.
Looking forward to hearing from more of the module maintainers....

And considering adding a small amount to the bounty, too.
Here's my offer:
If three more people pledge an amount greater than $10, then I will contribute $20 to the bounty. :)

yossilac commentedI'll gladly add $20 as well.

Robardi56 commentedGood news: the job was assigned to a developer. His job involves:
- updating module to use latest facebook libraries
- make module compatible with xfbml call of facebook social plugins
- simplification of user automatic registration to speed up the process
- implementation of an optional redirect url after account creation (might be usefull after automatic account creation to redirect to a profile page for example).
Thanks for your offer, I will give you the developer paypal email after development is more advanced.
He is starting June 30 and should complete it next week.

BenK commentedHey brakkar,
Great work in getting this done! Quick question for you: Do you have any interest in getting the new version of the module ported to Drupal 7 after the above updates are completed?

Robardi56 commentedBenK: Yes, this is something I'm interested in sponsoring also, but not for the short term.... i may do it in 4 to 6 months from now.
dreadfulcode commentedAWESOME! This is great news.
20 bucks to be gladly paid in full.

oxford-dev commentedCan I also offer a sponsorship for an extra feature?
I would like to reward my users for successful refers (currently I use the invite module to allow users to email other people and if they click the link and register they receive X userpoints).
Would it be possible to add some kind of action logic which is aware of referals through fbconnect to replicate the above behaviour.
Im not sure how big of a job this is so im not sure how much to offer. If someone could provide more insight onto this problem then the feature can hopefully be added and im sure others could make good use of it also.

victoria_b commentedoxford-dev,
This is exactly the position I find myself in. I don't really want to use the invite module and Facebook connect in tandem - I'd rather just use FBConnect for friend invites. But the Invite module allows my users to earn member points which is core to my users. Would be great if FBConnect could give userpoints for successful referrals.
I would gladly pay for that.

I would suggest using rules to perform an action such as that. Since rules is already integrated with userpoints (if I remember correctly), you can easily trigger a userpoint action to do just that. One way is setup a landing page for referrals, and use the "Content is going to be viewed" event to trigger the userpoint adjustment.
Just working off the top of my head, here :)

oxford-dev commentedThats an idea ive been toying around with.
To do this there would need to be some reference to the referer in the invite link, is that the case? Im not sure what happens with invites, is the referer an argument in the url?

dreadfulcode commentedTo further my contribution, would you like some documentation for beginners?
dreadfulcode commentedand testing on my local server now.
dreadfulcode commentedGood gawd it works, kinda. Had it up and running...kinda... from a fresh install in about 30 minutes.
Now who do I pay?
The improvements in documentation alone are worth it...on my end.
vectoroc commentedAdded some documentation (again in github).
btw. Who is the developer that has assigned to complete work ?
Robardi56 commentedI sent you a message using the contact form.

Robardi56 commentedHi guys,
the dev I hired didn't do the job.
But fortunately, Vectoroc did !! We finally managed to get a true, single click account creation and login, based on new facebook libraries, check here:
