Link failure level

Description

I find that certain sites will time out when Janode checks them, and then they are immediately placed into my approval queue. It would be nice to have different actions availble.

For example, setting a failure level for the link such as that it must fail three, or four times in a row to be marked as invalid.

A block that will show which links have failed once or twice.

The option to turn off link checking per link.

I've just taken over the "scheduler" module. A feature request on that is "can actions be triggered?". This seems like a good idea and the concept possibly applies here too. Once I've looked at this in more detail then I expect to include actions types in this module too.

As for the "block". Well, by placing them in "moderation" means they appear in the Admin queue block. That's why I didn't bother doing an additional block for janode. However, Drupal5 has done away with the "in moderation" flag so, when the time comes to update Janode to Drupal5 I'll need a new strategy for bringing "demoted" links to the admin's attention. It may well be in the form of a block. This is undecided as yet. With the loss of "in moderation" I really need to see what's replaced it (workflows?).

The option to turn off link check at the "per node" level is noted and I'll add that to my todo list.

I'm setting this issue to "postponed". Please don't take that as a "won't do". I just set feature requests to this whilst in the midst of the code freeze as I have enough work to be getting on with at times like this. I'll be coming back to my postponed issues.

Thanks for the feedback.

I agree with worldcoast that it will probably be useful to have the option of unpublishing the link only after more than one failure was recorded. On my site most of the links are unpublished after a couple of months. When I check the links manually from the command-line with curl, I normally get a 200 reponse, so I publish the links again. However, some time later it is unpublished again. I now suspect this is caused by time-outs, perhaps when my server or the target server is under heavy load. Only unpublishing after repeated failure, could mitigate this issue. I have recently turned off the 404 check as I keep on republishing the links.

Except for this issue, I really like Janode.

Greetings,
Mark
