A few days ago, somehow my sites went down. When I had asked my hosting company what had happened, they replied with this....

Hello,

Your main account was suspended due to high sql inquiries. Your account took the server load above the normal operating load. mwt_drpl1 database was the main problem. This database will need to be removed to resume normal operations of your entire account.

Is this something you are will to do?
======================================

I guess I had no choice and told them to do what they had to do, providing that they backed it up before deleting.

Now, I get this message while attempting to enter my forum http://ranchcardoso.biz/rcForum/ ....

===================
unable to select database
===================

Here are my questions:
0) What happened? Can anyone explain this to me?
1) What do I do now?
2) Did I lose my forum?
3) If so, do I have to start over or can this be recovered?
4) How can I avoid this from happening next time?
5) Can someone fix this for me.... please ;)

Thank you in advance
Konni =)

if they deleted your DB, then youll need to aquire the backup from them and reimport it (if possible).

if you consistenly get enough traffic to cause server overload and have your site shut down you should consider a dedicated host, where there arent as many limits as in a shared hosting environment. (provided you arent already on a dedicated hosting platform)

There is nothing we can do to help you receive the forums. As we said, the database had to be removed. A backup of the database is in your account as also stated but we can not permit that database to be used on our servers.

Questions:

1) Can I upload this database onto a different server and have it called from there?
2) Is that what happened? I had too many visitors on my forum?
3) How can I clean up the database and import it back in?
4) How do I import it back in?

Thanks again,
Konni =)

You can restore a Drupal site to a different server. You will need the files from your Drupal install as well as the database. It is best if you install it on a database of the same version as the mysqldump was taken from.

this was my question to them >>> Can you please explain what exactly happened and what caused it to happened so that I can avoid this from happening again.<<<

here's their answer >>> All we can tell you is your database in question had persistent connections spawning 10+ times continuously. This is something you should contact the script creator in regards to optimizing the database for future reference. <<<

And without sounding too much of a newbie, but can somebody give me a step-by-step process on what I need to do to get my drupal forum up and running again. I've got a huge headache from this and I'm also not feeling well.... so, it will be a great help if anybody can help me out on my problem.

Thank you.

Project: Database Administration » Drupal core
Version: 4.6.x-1.x-dev » 4.6.9
Component: MySQL Support » database system
Status: Active » Closed (won't fix)

sorry, but this thread has nothing to do with the dba.module (which is what this project's issue queue is about). moving this to the right place, and setting it to won't fix, since i don't think anyone's ever going to do anything else about this in its current form.
