Hi,
If you look at Acquia 2.0 theme, you see that there are advanced theme settings designed.
In these you can select for taxonomy terms, which vocabulary is hidden.
I would very much have this option is fervens theme also!
A great theme!

I personally think this should be module related, not a theme functionality.
