Can we have some information on the roadmap of this module?
For instance, I would prefer to wait for node.js support if that's coming soon, however if it's not I would be happy to test with strobe/the other servers.
Also, why drupalchat? Perhaps one module for the frontend and another module for the data-passing/pluggable backends? It would be great if you could share your plans in public.

darklrd commentedHi ManyNancy,
Regarding the roadmap of dxmpp module, I am following my GSoC timeline - http://groups.drupal.org/node/72743.
I am currently trying to find out the feasibility of integration of dxmpp module with node.js so I guess it will take sometime to be implemented if its possible.
And the idea behind the drupalchat is to provide one on one chat service(maybe group chat also later on) like in Facebook without the necessity of making any server side modifications. Obviously it won't be too much scalable but it will be a good solution for sites with medium traffic or people who can't afford/make server side changes(like those on shared hosting).

ManyNancy commentedRight, I understand that they're different, but to me it feels like there's a lot of overlap. Today I just read that you'll be adding comet to drupalchat, and something about pluggable backends, which is exactly I hoped for. But I thought that was the goal of *this module.
I don't have a preference and everything you're doing sounds awesome, but I want to make sure I'm using the correct module.
