I am wondering if the sitemenu module has problems with the category module, because I've installed both ... but when I click on the sitemenu link there is NO node summary ... Anyone encountered this ?

Use the taxonomy_wrapper
I installed the taxonomy_wrapper module, to enable sitemenu to work with the category module rather than the taxonomy module.
