I don't really know how to controll the frontpage ,... where do I assign to nodes that they are supposed to be shown on the frontpage ?

Edit your node. Look for the section "Publishing Options". And than check the check box "promote to frontpage".

you can go to "/admin/settings/content-types" and configure what you want to be shown on frontpage, so not everyting vil automatic come there.

Go to Settings - general setting and to" Default front page:" (node/ nodenumber)
