I just love it when somebody can build a site that does not look like a Drupal site.

I really like the layout, it is creative and different and you showed your style in it. It gets even better when viewing node only.

The only thing that seems wrong to me is that you mixed photos and web layouts on one page "Projects". Maybe you should split your portfolio into photos and designs. But that is my opinion...

Really thanks mate, and after looking your portfolio I apreciate it more.

I've been discovering how powerfull can Drupal be for this kind of "simple" websites. Not just for large sites, which I don't like to deal with, because I'm just a designer with some skills for using Drupal.

And I agree with your opinion, it was my first idea, but i'm starting and I don't have enough "nice" projects to show. Then, they all are in the main page. In fact, "projects" section will have them ordered by photo, web and graphic, but can't now.

Thanks!

Yes i do have the same opnion as you, and i really like the structure and quality that drupal brings to any website, i wish more and more websites must be built under drupal programming in future.

Sites looks great! Very nice work.

The only thing that kind of caught my eye was the logo. Not there's anything wrong with it, I was just thinking maybe make it stick out a bit. To me it almost looks as part of the navigation... unless that's what you were trying to do, then good job haha!

Site looks great though, that was just the one thing I noticed.

Absolutly true mate, i've to do a typographic logo, but have not time nor good ideas till now.

Until it's done, Helvetica/Arial always work :D

And thanks!

Hi! Cool and nice!

How did you achieve the look of your front page? It looks like you used Panels, but is that necessary? How did you make the titles pop up upon mouse over? Did you use jquery?

Hey,

for the front-page it uses Panels. But it's very simple, it's just a View with the projects and 2 custom Panels content for text at the start and the end. I'm not good with code nor panels, so maybe it could be done easier.

And yes, it uses jQuery for titles. A simple hover -> margin relationship.

beckyjohnson’s picture

Cool, so without the js, the titles would just be static at the bottom of the project squares?

kram08980’s picture

Yes, I did it time ago but i'll try to explain what I remember...

The fact is all the project items in the front page need 118px for the image and 50px for the title's box. If you apply a total 118px and "overflow: hidden" to the container, you just can see the first 118px of the div, that's the image. If you give title's boxes a "position: relative", you can use jQuery to animate their "top" value when you hover the div. From "top:0px" to "top:50px" in my case.

It's easy, i'm not good at coding and it's my first jQuery applied to a web :D

You can download FireBug and analize that, it's the great tool.

Cool, thanks for the advice. I really want to try it out now.

I would also like to appreciate your work, cool website, of course there are some improvement areas that I would like to mention: logo should be added, you can also include in footer copywrite option; as social bookmarking and social networking is capturing web so I would recommend to add social bookmarking option for the new website, bookmark will help you. I have a website developed using Drupal, I have presently started using this Drupal site to learn Drupal.
