Well... I have been toying with Drupal 4.6.5 for a bit. I have been experimenting wit FMPro Migrator ( an app that will allow me to move my FM database to MySQL.) It looks as if I will maintain the architecture of the tables from one DB to the other, with only minor headaches. But I have yet to delve into how to integrate this new MySQL db into a Drupal driven system. Has anyone ever heard of such a migration? Would creating a module around the tables/ layout of the existing FM front end be a dauting task? In other words... my feet are wet but my ankles are dry; shall I jump in? and is there someone else in this pool or am I completely alone?

Thanks!

Depends on what functionality you want in the long run. Done some work in which Drupal had to interface with FM (via CSV). Now in the process of moving the whole FM logic over to Drupal--mostly doing this from scratch since Drupal's framework logic doesn't always support FM's. This is just to let you know we're doing something similar but it may not be applicable to you in anyway--this job requires moving what has been an offline operation, with paper and FileMaker, to an online operation, with Drupal.

However, merely creating a module to dump data into a table is a fairly trivial Drupal task--the real question is whether the whole business logic can be easily ported to Drupal or you have to do a complete refactoring for Drupal (something you can only know if you're quite comfortable with Drupal).

How did your experience turn out? I am at the beginning of a large data migration project consisting of multiple FM databases into a Drupal dbase. I would be very interested in your experience with integrating these two technologies.

I'd be very interested to hear how folks made out with these projects too as I'm also attempting something similar.
Success stories all around I hope.
Cheers!

2006, 2008, 2010... every two years it seems someone has to integrate Drupal and Filemaker. If any of you are still around, I would be happy to hear your experience and take note of any advice.

Thank you in advance,

Jerry
