I have several roles, among them the administrator role which has been generated by adminrole.

Logged in as root, and going to admin/settings/filters/defaults, I see all roles except the administrator role.

That is because BF currently depends on the role format form being submitted since there is no role api in drupal. That means that modules that insert roles directly in the database, BF doesn't track. This is being worked on for 2.0. For now you can just re-install BF and you will see the roles.
