hi:

i have created a container called sections, then categories inside it but when i create a new node there doesnt appear any menu to select the categories i created.

with drupal's built in taxonomy you create a vocabulary and then choose which content types will use it but with category i assign the container a content type and still the categories dont appear when creating a new node.

what am i doing wrong?

i am on drupal 4.7.3

You have forgotten to enable the node type you are using to create the node. You can do this in the 'Container information' settings section of the container that has all your categories.
