Looking for feedback regarding my first attempt at a Drupal site.

It is basically a music site for bands to post information about their shows ETC and MP3s of their stuff.

There's not much there, yet, so it's hard to judge on content but I like the theme and the navigation seems intuitive enough. But then you click on "forum" and *bam" you're on this plain jane phpbb forum that's just tacked on. Ick.

Why dont you use a rock band

Why dont you use a rock band image in the background. Make the width wider and integrate phpbb forum into the website so its uniform?

Ok check... take the forum and do something with that. I may just remove it alltogether. it is really a seperate thing.

Actually, They have been harassing me; not sure if the OP is associated with them. I had never seen their site before and they've been posting that I stole their code. Not sure how I could take their code when I never saw their site before and the code is all in the downloadable mods.

Does this really work? I've heard that google ETC doesn't really search the way it use to and does their index is based on the number of key words in the text. I.E. If you were talking about Bill Clinton, A url of www.yoursite.com/billclinton.html would have no more chance of getting a high ranking as www.yoursite.com/blabla.html. It would depend on the content on the page, what is bolded, what is a link ETC. Also, the number of previous vists and a bunch of stuff you can not control.

For example
Bill Clinton would get a low rank
(b) Bill Clinton would get a higher rank
(h1) Bill Clinton would get an even higher rank
(h1)(Href)Bill Clinton would get the highest.

The theme is cute :) I particularly like the search bar. As for apparently looking like that other site, if by "looking like" they mean you both have a 3-col layout then shame on you for copying them and several bazillion other sites on teh interwebz ;)

Your friends and followers blocks, the contents are a misaligned. Maybe you could put in a placeholder box or a default pic or Imagecache them all to the same size so they'll line up neater? Just a thought.

And yeh, second integrating the forum if you're going to have a forum, violent transition from pretty site to generic phpbb thing is a bit jarring. Maybe have it as a link to seeing as you said they were separate things? Unless I misunderstood. Think you did pretty all right all up, and I also recommend grabbing SEO checklist, there's a few useful things in there which I wouldn't have thought about.

a question about your placeholder comment. I've been trying to fix that issue. Are you saying, just place a picture of a certain size at the top of the column?

Placeholders come in all varieties-- it's up to you. It can be an image, a clear image, text, etc.

Using placeholders can save a lot of time and frustration for customizing layouts. But watch out how it renders on all the browsers. You sometimes run into surprises!

Hey there, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. You got a good answer anyway ;) If you need something really quick and dirty you can also use an empty div with width and height defined in css.
