Hi,

I have a login area on a website that I have created but the issue is it’s a public site and passwords are being stored in the system cache. So if another user comes along starts to type in a username Firefox brings up a drop down of possible matches, I simply click any of them and the password field also populates. Is there a way I can block this?

Just to check I'm on the right track: The problem is that there are several people logging in from same PC. If so you need to play with some Firefox settings. Go into Firefox -> Edit -> Preferences. Click "Security" tab and halfway down is a "Remember Passwords" checkbox and a button marked "Exceptions".

A user must have purposefully chosen for Firefox to save their password. You should not support that kind of recklessness. Delete or block that user. When the user comes to you for explanation, teach them about security before re-enabling their account.

The preference setting mentioned above is good but if the users are clueless enough to store their passwords on that public PC, they are probably storing them on other public computers that you may not be able to tweak.
