Bulk tagging of legacy content

I saw in another post your mention of wanting to integrate this with the autotagger module. That module does not seem to be getting a lot of maintenance and from reading through the issue queue it seems like it has a lot of problems. I know that module offers a bulk tagging option, but there are a couple of issues relating to difficulties with it in the queue. Would it be possible to get this functionality into the extractor module? I've seen extractor called "the way of the future" in terms of auto-tagging from a pre-defined vocabulary. A useable bulk tagging feature would be a huge help! If this can't be worked out I'll have to use Calais, which is overkill for what I'm trying to do. I really need to use a pre-defined vocabulary solution. Thanks for your work on this module!
