Theme (and more?) for New Magazine's Website

Hello, several friends and I are working on launching a European current events and culture magazine and we'd like a strong web presence. I like the power of Drupal and so am planning on using this for our site, which is to have current and past issues, subscriptions, forums, event listings, blogs, and so on. I feel confident that I can set up Drupal and any associated modules just fine, but I am not a designer and we want a strong, distinctive distinctive design. We really don't have much money, but if you've got the skills we should be able to scrounge up a few hundred pounds for your awesome design services.
