After reading Remove the 'Page' content type from default install profile from IMHO as no-coder (read newbie coder) it comes to me spontaneous to share my simple personal experience installing many local test Drupal sites. In one of my last experiments I designed a simple installation profile which gave me the possibility to create on the fly a content type named systeminfo. In this content type goes all node that are directly related to customized content like a 404 - (Page not found) , 403 - (Access Denied) nodes, etc..

From the point of a new Drupal User this helped me to come to the idea of create/modify also some default views that come installed with the view.module for filtering out all this kind of nodes, per example off the tracker view. I felt really comfortable after finishing the installation to have now all my attention to go along the building of my custom site content structure.

That is just an idea that might be already spoken out elsewhere so excuse me if this comes out true.

Version: 8.x-dev » 7.x-dev

Changed from 8.x-dev to 7.x-dev

Might be a feature that could be implemented in later D7 updates?

I have review a very old documentation page that resume a list of the most used content that is created by users after their first Drupal install here.

The page was placed there in the manual after the last review on date 29/08/2010 - 17:13 by @silverwing.

May be that the page is now, (after my quick review- please check for errors), more suited for another place but I'm not going to suggest as I'm still not in the Documentation Team and have no idea of a better place and if this page is of any interest. As also this issue seems ignored or not interesting enough.
