Nodetracker - would you use it?

wwdd hasn't been online for very long, but already I've received a number of emails regarding my personal nodetracker.

I set it up because my browser bookmarks are already so cluttered that if I add drupal.org nodes that I want to track, realistically I'll never go back into my bookmarks and follow the posts up. And I don't want to do the "subscribe" or "me too" thing on every post that catches my interest just so that I can follow it in my tracker.

It would be pretty trivial for me to open this thing up so that people can maintain their own tracked nodes, complete with personal RSS feed and a bookmarklet that allows you to simply click an icon in your toolbar while reading something in the forums that will automatically add it to your tracker.

Right now I'm a bit busy with regular work and some Drupal related projects, but if a few people think that they would actually use a personal nodetracker, I'll be happy to spend a couple hours to make it available.

Sounds good to me

I think you've got a great idea there. I'd certainly install it on my site if it were available, to give my users more options.

Don't go out of your way, but when you've got time to spare.

If you're looking for an option for the end-users of your site to mark nodes, you are probably already in luck with something like the bookmarks module or the Views Bookmarks module (the description of Views Bookmarks can be a bit confusing. It makes it sound like it is for site administrators only. It isn't).

This would specifically be for Drupal developers/site maintainers to track drupal.org forum nodes.

The irony..

The Irony..

I'm posting this because I would love a bookmarklet like this:-)

I do something similar by tagging the drupal.org posts with delicious with a particular tag, but that doesn't let me know if they have been updated.

Thanks,
Alan

This sounds like it might be a good tool to integrate into Drupal.org. I too am reluctant to post "Adding to my tracker!" messages as those are cluttering up the forum quite often, but I feel that if there were a quick an easy way for a user to mark a forum topic or node for follow up that would be great. And if it can be organized into an RSS feed that lets you know when things have been updated than even better! I'm all for tools that make it easier for people to spend hours on the forum :P.

I'd use it if you put it on your site, and definitely love to have it as a Drupal.org feature and/or module that we can use on our own sites.

Well, it certainly doesn't

Well, it certainly doesn't seem like the gates are being beaten down with demand, but I may play around with this a bit at the end of the week when I've got some time.
